Our mission
Through scientific research, Yetu Mwini develops and delivers a wide range of politically viable projects and strategies based on technical-scientific studies for the energy transition. Along with overarching climate policy issues, the successful transition to a climate-neutral energy system is at the heart of our work. Seen as a laboratory for projects and policies, we facilitate a productive exchange of ideas between stakeholders from politics, business, science and civil society. Our research identifies politically viable solutions – without ideological compromises. As a nonpartisan organization, we are independent of corporate and partisan interests. Our sole mission is to serve the climate and the common good. With our independent expertise, we aim to advance climate action within the framework of politically agreed goals, including a wide range of stakeholders.
We are guided by the principles of transparency, independence and mutual respect. To ensure a productive and safe workplace free from discrimination, we are committed to taking decisive action against any type of harassment, discrimination and violence. Furthermore, Yetu Mwini aims for gender diversity. Therefore, we actively support equal representation of women at all of our events and panels.
Our work
Yetu Mwini was founded in 2016 with the aim of developing scientifically sound and politically viable ways to make existing energy systems clean and sustainable. The name "Yetu Mwini" stands for Our Energy, referring to a mandate to engage in intensive dialogue with key stakeholders involved in the energy transition.
At our councils, Yetu Mwini Board members and key stakeholders from politics, science, business and civil society meet regularly to exchange information on current issues relating to energy, climate, social policy and discuss the results of our investigation. The Councils are open and honest forums for discussion and exchange – supported by scientific knowledge.
Yetu Mwini's interdisciplinary and international team combines technical, economic and political expertise on broad energy and climate policy issues, as well as the energy and social sector. Under the executive management of senior figures from Angolan society, Yetu Mwini works in close exchange with public and private institutions (national and international) combining knowledge in all central sectors – renewable energy, environment, statistics, energy saving, power and electricity, oil, gas and biofuels – and we work on comprehensive solutions for a successful path to climate neutrality.
